NEWSLETTER JUNE 2010

Dear Parents
Our second term has been very short and pressurised. Many demands have been placed on pupils, staff and parents, as we have had to fit in so much in a short period, for example, assessments, tests, exams, extramural commitments, fund-raising events, etc. Thanks to all the support which we have received from the Westcott Primary community, we have enjoyed a very happy and successful term.

Our Fun Run held on Saturday, 8 May, was a great success. We were blessed with wonderful weather and all who came along seemed to enjoy the event. Thanks to your wonderful support, we managed to raise R 27 077.87. We thank all of our boys and girls and parents for raising so much money with the sponsor forms. Thanks to the Fund-raising team and staff for all the effort which they put into the event.

Our Music Evening on 4 June was a wonderful evening. The Westcott boys and girls did themselves proud, as did the staff of the Music Department. A huge thanks goes to Mrs Scheepers, our music teacher, for co-ordinating the Music Evening, and to Mrs Groenewald and Mrs Keet for their wonderful work amongst our learners in the Music Department. Thanks to all the parents who attended the function and to all the staff and learners who helped to make it a success

Westcott World Cup
As you know, we have been having our very own World Cup matches here at
Westcott and we look forward to the finals on Tuesday, 8 June. The Junior Final is between Bafana-Bafana and Italy (3A vs 3B), while our Senior Final sees Nigeria taking on Portugal (7A vs 6A). We look forward to a great final!

We thank our parents, staff and children for supporting our My School Play It Forward Campaign during this term and our Football Fridays Civvies Days. A big thanks to Ms Benjafield and all the children and staff who assisted her in running the Play It Forward Campaign, especially the "Big Five", who made the weekly announcements at Assembly.

Westcott Ambassadors
Recently when I was watching a soccer game between the Westcott Under 12 team and the Kommetjie Primary Under 12's in Kommetjie, I was reminded again about what our school is all about! There were 13 of our Westcott youngsters, dressed neatly in the familiar blue and gold colours, playing their hearts out for our school. They won 4-0 and did our school proud as true ambassadors! What pride I felt in our school at that moment
In this regard, we thank all of the boys and girls and staff who regularly practice, play matches in all of our sports codes and attend various cultural activities, not only because they enjoy these activities, but because they are proud of our school and want to represent our school.
